Library and Archive

The Academy’s Archive and Library contain a highly valuable documentary collection spanning over nearly three centuries. The Library includes more than one hundred thousand volumes and is one of the most important collections from the second half of the eighteenth century in Spain. Access to the Library is primarily available to History of Science and Technology scholars.

The Library catalogue is computerised and is integrated into the collective catalogue of the Consortium of University Libraries in Catalonia (http://www.cbuc.es). The Library is complemented by the Academy’s Historical Archive, which contains minute books, administrative documentation from the creation of the Experimental Physics and Mathematics Conference, the original manuscripts of the scientific communications from the 18th and 19th centuries presented to the Corporation by its permanent members, projects, correspondence, plans and other documents.
