Associate Professor of the University of Valencia, 1974-76. Professor at the Universities of Madrid, Zaragoza, Autonomous of Madrid and, since 1971, Autonomous of Barcelona. Office charges at the UAB: Dean of the Faculty of Sciences (1976-78), Vice-rector and Rector (1986-90). Director of the Interuniversity Group of Theoretical Physics (GIFT) (1980-84). General Director of Higher Education at the Catalan Government (1980-83) Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Spanish Synchrotron Light Source (1992-2002) and of the Executive Committee of ALBA (2003-16). Main fields of research: Quantum Mechanics, Theoretical High Energy Physics, Elementary Particles. Publications: More than 50 peer-reviewed research articles; books and chapters of books and proceedings; many articles on research and higher education policy. Awards and honors: Narcís Monturiol medal to the scientific merit; Saint George Cross (Generalitat de Catalunya); Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary International; Comendador de la Orden Civil de Alfonso X el Sabio; Medal of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
