Biographical note: Jaume Freixa graduated as an Architect in 1966, obtained a Master in Achitecture at Harvard University in1978 and a PhD by the U.P.C. in 1993. His first professional experience took place at the office of Sert, Jackson and Associates in Cambridge MA where he worked, amongst other projects, on the extension of the Maeght Fondation in France and on the Fondation Miró in Barcelona. Returned to Barcelona in 1979, he became professor at Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya while pursuing a professional career. He is the author of, amongst other works, the two extensions of the Miro Foundation (1988 and 2001), the extension of the Musée d’Art Moderne de Ceret (1993), the Sert Professor’s Housing for the U.A.B., the studio for the painter Antoni Tapies, the house and studio for the painter Frederic Amat, three schools and the headquarters of the Association of Odontologists of Catalonia (2007). His work has been published in several architectural magazines. He has commissioned three exhibits, published books and articles on architecture and given lectures in different countries. Between 2009 and 2019 he was president of the Joan Miró foundation.
