Biography: Marta Sanz-Solé is a Catalan mathematician specializing in probability theory and a PhD from the University of Barcelona (UB), where she is currently full professor and head of the research group on stochastic processes. She was Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics UB (1993-1996), and Vice-president of the Division of Experimental Sciences and Mathematics (2000-2003). Since May 2018, she is the Director of the Barcelona Graduate School of Mathematics. Her research interests are in stochastic analysis equations. She has published about 100 scientific articles and a monograph on Malliavin calculus. In 2011-2014, Sanz-Solé held the position of President of the European Mathematical Society in 2011-2014. She was member of the Abel Committee for the Abel Prize 2016, 2017. In 1998 she was awarded with the Narcís Monturiol Medal of Scientific and Technological Excellence and in 2011 she was elected Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (USA). In November 2016, she was elected member of the Institute of Catalan Studies. In 2017 she was awarded the Medal of the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society for her scientific contributions and relevant international positions and service.
