“Emerging Advanced Materials and AI to Answer to Sustainable Society Demands ”
In the current digital era, as the world advances with smart technology, our planet faces critical challenges such as material scarcity, widespread unrecycled waste, and environmental pollution. Rapid socio-economic growth—driven by the surge in smart electronics, plastic-based products, and reliance on non-recyclable raw materials—exacerbates climate change and ecological disturbances, depleting our natural resources. Simultaneously, the progress in IoT and wearable smart devices demands high-resolution communication interfaces and a shift toward green technologies, leveraging emerging nanoscale devices beyond silicon. This technological evolution also requires significant energy to power these systems.
To sustain this progress, integrating artificial intelligence and high-performance computing necessitates a focus on ultra-low power consumption in device design. Exploiting renewable energy sources and developing efficient energy storage solutions are essential steps toward reducing electronic waste (e-waste) caused by the proliferation of disposable electronic devices.
This presentation aims to explore pathways that address these dual challenges: minimizing e-waste and advancing sustainable energy solutions. Our goal is to contribute to the development of eco-friendly, green-powered products and foster social awareness of sustainable and green technologies—potentially revolutionizing industry and society through innovative business models and smart, sustainable lifestyles.
